Best Integration of CSR in Business Operations

 

 

 

Swedish companies are known internationally to be on the frontline of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and are looked upon as role models within this field. It has been possible to demonstrate a linkage between CSR and a positive image as well as profitability. This year's Globe Award nominees for Best Integration of CSR in Business Operations are excellent examples of where this is the case. The nominees are:

Axfood

Axfood has been conducting social audits of suppliers around the world since 2004. Inspectors control that suppliers conform to Axfood's Code of Conduct. Where necessary, Axfood demands improvements and conducts follow-up to ensure its demands are met. In 2007 Axfood adopted a new environmental policy, which will be part of its sustainability policy. Axfood has strongly increased the number of organic and fair trade labelled products in its offering and is launching a new line of organic products in 2008.

Electrolux

Electrolux is a global leader in home appliances and appliances for professional use, selling more than 40 million products in 150 countries. H&M

H&M’s business concept is to offer fashion and quality at the best price. At H&M quality means that the products should be manufactued in a environmentally and socially sustainable way.H&M works actively with environmental and social responsibility in the supply chain. The company’s code of conduct, which is the benchmark for the work, was developed already 1997. The follow-up of the requirements are made according to the comprehensive Full Audit Programme. Holmen

Holmen is a forest products group that produce printing paper, paperboard and sawn timber. Holmen is well placed to satisfy tomorrow’s increasingly accentuated demands for sustainability. The production is based on the renewable and climate neutral raw material wood. Holmen is engaged in sustainable forestry. Holmen is a member of UN:s Global Compact. The report Holmen and its World describes the Group in term of its sustainability. The emphasis in on concern for the environment, social responsibility and financial development. Lindex

For Lindex CSR comprises efforts for conditions of work, environmental issues, ethical issues, and a stance regarding human rights. Lindex wants to be a socially responsible company and does not only see it as an obligation but also as something well in line with the company’s business concept. The work with CSR is integrated in Lindex’ business operation and as a part of the daily work. In order to achieve change, the company pursues a patient and forward-looking work. For Lindex, social responsibility and fashion are well compatible concepts.

SAS

The SAS Group’s social responsibilities include employees and the Group’s impact on the surroundings and communities where it operates. For that reason the content of their social responsibility may vary depending on time and place.
