The Sustainable Investment Research Platform, SIRP, at Umeå School of Business

Companies and their owners in financial markets increasingly acknowledge CSR, but many see conflicts between CSR and the financial goals of companies. The objective of our research is to enhance the understanding of the economic value of CSR by addressing such questions as:  Does CSR improve the profitability of companies? Is CSR valued and rewarded in financial markets? How do companies create and maintain intangible values inherent in CSR? Our research advances CSR as a business case for sustainable development.

The Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University

The research group in Uppsala is not occupied with theoretical models of how companies ought to act, but focuses on how companies handle CSR-issues in everyday practice. The development of theory is well anchored in practical examples from companies and other organizations, and many of the publications are written for a broad circle of readers. Some of the latest research projects deal with what responsibility companies can be said to have in society, how CSR-work affects companies internally and what design, identity and fashion mean for CSR-work.

The Swedish Business School at Örebro University

The Responsible Corporation research group (est 2003) at Örebro University deals with ethics and responsibility issues in relation to business. Main concepts are Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Corporate Citizenship (CC) och Business Ethics. The group produces both conceptual research and research based on in-depth empirical studies of businesses. Since 2006, the group's largest area of research is 'Ethical codes in business'. Two projects are on-going, one financed by the Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research, and the other by Handelns utvecklingsråd.
