Biography
Maria Wetterstrand was born in Eskilstuna in 1973 and early became politically active, in environmental and development issues. Between 1996 and 1999 Maria was the spokesperson for the Young Greens of Sweden. She has been a member of the Swedish parliament since 2001. In 2002 Maria was elected as spokesperson, together with Peter Eriksson. She lives in Stockholm together with her husband, the Finnish politician Ville Niinistö, and their two children.
