Biography
Britt Almqvist holds a degree in Architecture from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. She is one of two partners of Ahlqvist&Almqvist Arkitekter since 1989. Her company has won several major competitions in Sweden and abroad, and she has also worked together on various prestigious projects with the late renowned Ralf Erskine. An expert in urban planning and sustainable architectural design specialised in commercial and housing developments, university buildings and infrastructure, Britt Almqvist serves on several architectural, design and (sustainable) building related committees. Britt Almqvist's experience from sustainability projects in China includes a master plan of 7000 units in Changsha. Ahlqvist-Almqvist Arkitekter has since 1992 been a selected member to represent Sweden in Europe's largest network of architects. Perspective has more than 400 architects and has more than fifteen member countries throughout Europe. Britt Almqvist was elected President of Perspective in June 2007, and she will focus her work on sustainable buildings for the future.
