Biography

Graduated in law, between 1987 and 1994 she was Lecturer at the same Faculty of Lund University. She served as District Chairwoman of the Centre Party in Östergötland (1993-1995), Chairwoman of the Centre Party women’s association (1998-2000) and since 2000 she’s a Member of the same party’s executive committee. Her political path started in 1994, when she became municipal commissioner in Valdemarsvik; in the same year, she was appointed County Councillor and substitute Member of the Östergötland County Council Executive Committee. Between 1998 and 2004 she was deputy at the Swedish Parliament; she was then elected Member of the European Parliament, where she currently takes part in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Temporary Committee on Climate Change. She is also substitute Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality.
